FBPC Organizes 2022 National Boules and Petanque Championships

PHNOM PENH: The Federation of Boules and Petanque of Cambodia (FBPC) is organizing the 2021 National Boules and Petanque Championships.

The opening of the competition took place on the morning of Mar. 4 under the presidency of the federation's President and Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports H.E. Sar Sokha.

According to H.E. Prum Bunyi, Deputy Secretary-General of FBPC, the competition aims to develop the capacity of Cambodian athletes and select the best ones for the 2023 SEA Games to be hosted by Cambodia.

It is also to promote the development of the boules and petanque sport in Cambodia, he added.

Lasting from Mar. 4 to 6, the event attracts the participation of 189 athletes and 59 delegates and coaches.

The contest comprises 6 subjects including men and women beating for scores, men 3 vs 3, women 3 vs 3, youth 1 vs 1, and young women 1 vs 1.

Cambodia had secured the world petanque champion title five times time consecutively.

Cambodia had sent four female athletes to attend National Petanque Championship 2021 where Ms. Ouk Sreymom was named the 2021 world champion after defeating her Thai counterpart 37-29 at the final round.

Cambodia has won the world petanque championships in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021.
